September 21 10:20 PM

Hello friends,
We have had a busy day today talking to many doctors, case workers & friends.  Today was to be the day of the tooth removal, etc... but and emergency case came in so we were bumped to "maybe tomorrow".  It turns out this was a good thing as the doctors had forgotten to run a trial on Micah to see if he was going to be able to tolerate food going directly to the stomach before putting the feeding tube in!  Our nurses caught that, we really like the nurses a lot.  They did the trial today and it has gone very good, he showed some signs of discomfort at first but that quickly resided and he has been at rest then rest of the evening.  We had a good visit with a couple of families and then later in the evening our doctor friend came in to visit bearing coffee, thanks Clay!

We are trying to take our days one at a time.  Today I helped change Micah several times and did not cry once.  Last night I learned to give his meds to him and tomorrow I plan on learning as much from the nurses as I can.  We see small improvements (in our eyes) each day, different ways he responds and tries to communicate to us.  He gets frustrated and a lot of times we do to because we can't always find out what is bothering him.  It's how a lot of you have expressed your feelings for us, "we want to help, but we don't know what to do".  Believe me, knowing that you want to means a lot to us and we hope that Micah understands that we want to help but don't always know how also.  Just now he was frustrated and I couldn't figure out what was wrong, a minute later his food kicked on and he go quiet.  He was hungry I suppose, but he couldn't tell me that.

This is the first time in ten days that food is going into his stomach and it is going well, but at midnight he gets cut off and goes to fluids (in case he gets to have his surgery late afternoon tomorrow)  Pray for his comfort as I don't think he is going to be as happy with the fluids tonight & tomorrow as he is with the food today.

We are still praying and trusting God for complete healing and still trying to do the day to day things that have to be done.  Reminding God of His promises to us while changing a diaper and His promises for Micah while calming him.  God is good, this is the verse that was shared with us today:

"The Lord is righteous in all His ways,
Gracious in all His works."    Ps. 145:17

The Good Lord bless each of you, I wish I could hug all of you for your encouragement to us.
Tina

  1. Hey you guys! We love you and are praying for you continually... I do wish we could help.... I guess you need prayers more than anything. Eric wanted to tell Thomas he is praying for his father's heart. If you think the children would like a trip to the "country", we would love to have them!
    We love you!

  3. Thomas and Tina- You are all on my heart all through the day and that brings me to the Lord in prayer. I pray He will wrap each of you in His love and make you aware of His Presence and give you His Peace. (and it seems He is) Of course I pray and plead for Micah's healing too. Thank you for the encouraging words & Songs and also for your honesty as you have shared your anguish in your blogs. I am ready to help anyway I can.

  8. Good Morning to you all!!! Tina and Thomas you are both special people, even though we have not been close over the years, I have always known you both were happy with life, with the Lord and with your precious children. Please remember the LORD never puts anything on us that we can't bear, so I know that is why you and Thomas are peace with the situation and taking one day at time, because he also promised us that. I wish I could do more for you but prayer right now is all I have to offer but I do know that is enough. LOVE to ALL OF YOU. Sharon Sargent Pettit

  9. I have sat quietly for days reading your posts. I can no longer be silent. Your words of praise send encouragement to everyone that reads them when it fact we should be sending those words to you. I truly believe that God is there with you and helping you and Micah in every possible way. You are wonderful people even during this terrible time. If anyone will be given jewels for their crowns, it will be your family. My prayers are with you daily and for Micah. God Bless all of you.

  10. Thomas and Tina,
The Davis family are praying for Micah and your famiy as we anxiously await the complete miracle for Micah.

As we check the blogspot daily we are encouraged that the miracle is in progress. Glory be to God that he has the plan for Micah in complete control.

Christy (my daughter in law) said that she is asked daily for an update from the Medical staff that worked with Micah in Jackson. She is keeping them posted.

Your faith is such a testimony to everyone of how we should believe no matter what we may see.

We love you and are continually praying!

  11. Hi Tina & Thomas, I think and pray for you at every turn. I was just in the library and the woman ahead of me looked like you, Tina. So many little things daily propel me to pray for your family and dear Micah. I scribbled furiously to copy the preparatory reading that was projected on a big screen in church on Sunday because it made me think of you and the sermon was from Galatians...Abba, Father. I keep calling out to our papa for you. Here is the reading I liked... "How is personal worth defined?
Is it the stuff that is owned?
Is it by the depth of relationships?
Is it by the impact or depth of influence?
Would a father determine the worth of his child based on any of these categories?
The very thought is abhorrent to a father's love.

'He is my son...she is my daughter...and that is all that matters.'
The Father has sent forth the Spirit of His Son, crying,"Abba! Father!"
    Love to you, Melanie

  12. Thomas and Tina
I was thinking about you guys and wanted to share a scripture that came to me and my pastor actually preached on it this past Sunday.

    Matthew 12:28-30
"Come to me, all of you who are tired and have heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Accept my teachings and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit, and you will find rest for your lives. The burden that I ask you to accept is easy; the load I give you to carry is light."
